The brand new website of MIKA which is still like a .. blog, but it seems to be changing soon to a proper web-page... Whatever that means.. You can visit  http://www.mikasounds.com  to get a taste.

For those of you who are into music production or would like to get a short taste of how we nerdy musicians work in the studio, MIKA's video is interesting in terms of providing us with the ability to hear some pre-release sounds of his new album and the way that these different elements -the gospel coir, the pizz.violin, the clapping and tapping- fit in a final POP mix . The part where he plays the solo "pizzicato" violin and then plays it again with the track is a great idea to include fans in what's actually going on...

"You can't really listen to it, but u sorta feel it..." :-)

I just love the fact that he decided to give this on air... the studio samples, the small taste of music, the way we built music up together as if it's legos... :-)

One of my favorite songs on the album (there are SOOOO many!) is "iN ANy oTheR WoRld"
Enjoy:

And the ending of the album, equally amazing... The Happy Ending!
Official video can be found here, but embed object is disabled for some reason... Agrrrr...
Anyway, this is the that you left me, am not pretending... No hope, No love, No glory, No happy ending... This is the way that we love, Like it's forever... Then live the rest of our life, but not together...

Θυμάσαι εκείνη την αγκαλιά που μου 'δωσες να κρατάω και τα βλέμματα που σου έκρυψα στη τσέπη...;

... . .... . ...

Θυμάσαι την μυρωδιά μου καθόλου;

How can you not love this version? Another great artistic soul...

Lyrics:

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah... Hallelujah...

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Baby I have been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you.
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah...

There was a time you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah...

Maybe there's a God above
and all I ever learned from Love
is how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
And its not a cry you can hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and its a broken Hallelujah...

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light in every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah...

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

...ESC 2009.
The National Contest for the CYprus Entry was held on 07th Feb '09

Watch Alex Panayi's performance... He came 5th...
His performance was so amazing, so real, so emotional...
I am not one of those to start writing about what he thought on the different entries, the good and the bad ones... But it is important, and I do feel the need to say, that Alex (song: There is Love) along with (Mr) Zel (song: I'm Gonna Break-Up with You) were
the most professional performances that night... Despite "There is Love" 's similar melodic line to Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah refrain, Alex's song did touch my heart! Bravo Alex... I am proud of who you've become!
Simplicity, Beauty, Emotion, Professionalism... You 're a great artist!

en: gay activist Leo Kalovyrnas' trial today!

Today is the court-day for Leo Kalovyrnas' trial. Leo is one of the people I met recently (just last year) and who I respect and admire. A person who fights for his and all gay people's rights, a passionate personality about the gay rights and fights against unfairness.

Leo faces a law suite brought to the Greek court by the bishop of the Piraeus, Seraphim. Mr. Kalovyrnas wrote an article on how someone can distinguish a "priest" (papas in greek) from a "asshole" (paparas in slang greek), after Seraphim's article maligned gays as ‘morally corrupt, obsessed with satisfying their psychopathological deviation and who have made a life value out of the faeces elimination tract'. Seraphim's hatred against gays was expressed also by supporting the claims of the popular Greek actor Nikos Seryanopoulos murdered in what seems to be a homophobic crime, by suggesting that the actor brought this on himself because, according to the alleged murderer, Seryanopoulos forced him to have sex. The Bishop of Pireas claimed that the murderer, not being ‘that way' got upset and defended himself by stabbing the actor 21 times.

Several leading politicians, ministers, and religious leaders, as well as several journalists and other public figures, repeatedly insult and demean gays and lesbians without any legal or disciplinary consequences.

The trial is today in Athens.
Let's see what the judge says...

Leo, we are sending you all the positive energy and courage possible to get through this difficult period.
This is a trial about freedom of speach, respecting and controlling public insaults, how people -no matter their position or opinion- should not be allowed to verbally insult anyone.

You can see information on the case and the petition raised by 10% and Leo Kalovyrnas at: http://www.10percent.gr/stiles/koinotita/synthesis/527-2008-10-19-18-34-11.html

There is an interview of Leo at http://www.tvxs.gr/v4594, in greek talking about the case and the gay rights in Greece.
